B5 Center Armrest Cover Removal

The CF Armrest cover is made in two versions. It is structurally rigid and the underside is compression molded for an exact fit over the plastic armrest piece.

Version 1:

Tools needed: Utility Knife

This kit comes with 3M .031" acrylic double-sided tape attached to the underside of the cover. Installation merely requires you to cut off the leather/vinyl/foam from the underside of the armrest and remove. Clean the top surface. Peel and stick on the Shaped Carbon Fiber Armrest Cover.

Version 2:

Tools needed: Drill, 3/16" drill bit or smaller, 5/8" drill bit, Philips screwdriver:

Version 2 replaces the 3M adhesive with 2 pre-drilled inserts (and supplied Screws) for use with the existing holes on the bottom of the Armrest. This requires drilling a pilot hole through the existing upper plastic piece, then drilling a 5/8" hole through the top plastic only. The cover is then fastened via the 2 provided screws through the bottom plate directly into the insert.

Both versions should take less than 30 minutes to complete. This is a skill level 1 task.

This is the mold for the underside of the Carbon Fiber cover. Version one = tape over those two big holes. Version two = holes are filled with Polyvinyl Resin and pre-drilled.

This is the underside of your existing Armrest with the Leather cut away. The CF armrest cover attaches via screws through these two holes.
